Domestic portable ultrasound diagnostic equipment approved for market launch to assist precision diagnosis and treatment in primary healthcare

Recently, the National Medical Products Administration officially approved the registration and launch of a portable color Doppler ultrasound diagnostic equipment independently developed by a domestic medical device enterprise. This device belongs to Class II medical equipment and has the characteristics of being lightweight, easy to carry, easy to operate, and long-lasting. It can be adapted to various scenarios such as primary medical institutions and emergency sites, filling some gaps in the application of domestic portable high-end ultrasound equipment in primary medical care.

It is understood that grassroots medical institutions have long faced the dilemma of insufficient ultrasound diagnostic equipment and weak diagnostic and treatment capabilities due to limited space, insufficient funds, and a shortage of professional ultrasound physicians. Traditional desktop ultrasound equipment has a large volume and is inconvenient to move, making it difficult to meet the needs of grassroots home diagnosis and treatment, emergency first aid, and other scenarios. The portable ultrasound diagnostic equipment approved this time weighs only 2.8 kilograms and is equipped with a high-definition touch screen and intelligent operating system. It integrates multiple examination modes for abdominal, cardiovascular, obstetrics and gynecology, musculoskeletal and other areas, and supports wireless image transmission, remote consultation and other functions, greatly reducing the operational threshold for primary diagnosis and treatment.


The R&D team of this device has been deeply involved in the field of ultrasound technology for many years, and has made special optimizations for the needs of primary healthcare scenarios. The team has overcome core technologies such as miniaturized ultrasound probe design and low-power signal processing. While ensuring image clarity, the device's battery life has been increased to over 8 hours, which can meet the daily diagnosis and treatment needs of primary medical institutions. Clinical validation data shows that the detection rate of lesions in common areas such as liver, kidney, and thyroid by this device is not significantly different from that of desktop ultrasound equipment, and its safety and effectiveness have been fully verified.


Clinical application cases show that after the introduction of this equipment in a township health center, nearly 200 grassroots health screenings have been completed. Previously, local residents needed to go to the county hospital for ultrasound examinations, which took 2-3 hours to travel back and forth. Now, the examination can be completed at their doorstep. The doctors at the health center stated that the equipment is easy to operate and, combined with intelligent diagnostic prompts, even grassroots medical staff can quickly get started. Multiple cases of early liver cysts, thyroid nodules, and other lesions have been successfully screened, buying time for timely treatment of patients.


Experts from the Primary School Group of the Ultrasound Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association stated that the launch of domestically produced portable ultrasound diagnostic equipment provides a cost-effective and precise diagnostic and treatment tool for primary healthcare, which helps to promote the sinking of high-quality medical resources. The popularization of such devices will effectively enhance the disease screening and diagnosis capabilities of grassroots medical institutions, reduce misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis, and help the implementation of the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment system.


It is reported that research and development companies are continuously optimizing equipment functions, planning to launch specialized models suitable for pediatric, emergency and other segmented scenarios, and build a grassroots ultrasound diagnosis and treatment data platform to achieve centralized management of examination data and remote consultation docking. At the same time, the enterprise will collaborate with local health departments to provide operational training for grassroots medical staff, allowing more grassroots people to enjoy convenient and accurate ultrasound diagnosis and treatment services.
